Inside a small coffee shop artists scattered about sitting in chairs of different styles and makings with tables that only sometimes met the proper height limit.

The writers struggled to put their poetic thoughts on paper. Some casually writing slow transitional scenes or were getting distracted by social media, while others frantically wrote down their stories trivial chapter, hoping they could finish it before their laptops died. Painters sat on couches sketching what they hoped to be next months rent, while random clusters of people conversed over potato wedges and chi lattes.

The aroma of spices, vanilla, and ground up coffee filled their bodes with delight and the style of the old cafe took their cares away. Lit by the two windowed walls, the room had a quaint and dingy atmosphere. With old oriental carpets littering the floor and paintings, clocks, and mirrors crammed onto the walls, the young artists forgot about the outside world. They even forgot about the date and time. Each living in a different era of their own.

A week and a half ago my older sister, Annie and I visited The Gypsy Den. The Gypsy Den is a lovely little coffee shop with jazzie 1940's elevator music playing in the back ground. Together we had vanilla chai tea lattes --her's was hot and mine was ice blended-- and worked on our stories. It was a nice excursion that has kept my creative juices flowing. In fact this coming up Friday we will be having a writing marathon which I cannot wait to tell you all about.

For those of you who are having writers block I suggest you go to your towns local non-corporate coffee shops. Not that there is anything wrong with Starbucks or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, but there is something inspirational and almost magical about a random, run-of-the-mill coffee shop. I suggest all of you artists out there try it out.
